Let’s integrate

My mantra for the past couple of years has been integration. Rather than having clumps of data self contained in compartments or silos, we could be adding far more meaning by bringing those different strands of data together, integrating them and creating something that is more than just data, but information.

An example is in AFR Access where related headlines are returned when viewing an articles, based on a set of search terms derived from the article, or Google Finance where headlines are integrated with the stock chart.

Now I’ve seen Yahoo pipes, that allows anyone to mashup different sources and create their information. Something tells me this is just the start of something big.
